What is DerectumArt

DerectumArt is the name of the brand belonging to digital artist and author Alexandru Morariu. Born in Romania and raised in Italy, Alexandru is the creator and owner of this ‘altar’ by the name of Derectum - a pseudo-Latin term that recalls the act of ‘standing tall’.

Thematically, DerectumArt represents the sacred light that shines across the dark landscapes of the Unconscious. It has a strong focus on symbolism, religion/spirituality, mythology and psychology, as well as their union with a modern cultural framework. The aim is the study of the sacred and how it connects to the mind.

Practically, DerectumArt produces illustrated fiction novels, blending original art and storytelling. A blog on Medium encompasses all the non-fiction written work delving into philosophy, art, metaphysics and spirituality.

Original Art is produced digitally but then transformed into physical objects (Wall-Art) and are sold as Limited-Edition, curated, framed and signed pieces.
